CJ JESSUP, HEAD COACH & CO-DIRECTOR

CJ is an assistant on the Boys’ Shorewood Varsity Basketball coaching staff. CJ spent two seasons as the head coach of Wisconsin PGC's Class of 2029 UA Future team prior to co-founding Apex Elite Basketball Club. When away from a gym, CJ is an Associate Financial Advisor with a private Wealth Management team at Baird in Milwaukee.

JAMES BURNETT, COACH & CO-DIRECTOR

James Burnett has been a youth basketball and baseball coach for five years. He also spent the past two seasons coaching with CJ with Wisconsin PGC. When not coaching, James, a former award-winning journalist, is co-owner of Big League Distributing, a Mequon-based beverage wholesaler, operates a boutique public relations consultancy, and leads public affairs for the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office. James also serves on multiple non-profit boards.

LARRY HISLE JR, BOARD MEMBER

Larry Jr. was both a basketball and baseball standout at Homestead High School and the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Following a career as a minor league baseball player, Larry Jr. has been a non-profit executive and also spent more than 15 years in academia. Later, Larry co-founded a mental health outpatient clinic and is co-founder and partner to James in Big League Distributing. Larry has been a resident of Southeastern Wisconsin for over 40 years.

JIM JONES, BOARD MEMBER

Coach Jim Jones was an arts teacher with Milwaukee Public Schools for over 30 years. Coach Jones has over 30 years of coaching experience with Milwaukee Hamilton, Milwaukee Marshal, and Milwaukee Custer. Coach Jones was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. Coach Jones is an active member of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association and serves on the Executive Board.

PAUL THOMPSON, BOARD MEMBER

Paul Thompson is a retired NBA player, a native of Baton Rouge, LA, who now resides in southeastern Wisconsin. Over the course of a journeyman’s career, Paul played professionally in Europe and Israel and for multiple NBA teams, including the Philadelphia 76ers alongside Julius “Dr. J” Irving, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and culminating with the Milwaukee Bucks. When Paul isn’t coaching or mentoring, he serves as Captain of Administration for the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, an MCSO recruit and cadet instructor, and a long-time SWAT Team member.
